The short version:
PropertyManagement.com's 2026 Vendor Performance Index (VPI) report named RentEngine the leasing software category leader with a score of 87.28, ahead of ShowMojo (79.87) and Tenant Turner (79.40). RentEngine won six of seven dimensions, including the category's highest scores for support quality, credibility, and operator NPS, and the highest 30-day vacancy fill rate (80.0%). The ranking is built on 410 verified operator evaluations and 687 verified client surveys across 111,683 doors, with no vendor payments involved.
In its 2026 Leasing Software Category Report, the second in its Vendor Performance Index (VPI) series, PropertyManagement.com named RentEngine the category leader. As the report puts it: “no pay-to-play, no black boxes, only math”.
We are the youngest platform in the category, founded in 2023, and also the most decorated on the verified data. Here is what that data shows.
What the VPI measures and how it ranks leasing software
The VPI is a Bayesian-smoothed composite score across six weighted dimensions: NPS (40%), Performance (20%), Ease of Use (15%), Support Quality (15%), Pricing (5%), and Credibility (5%).
PropertyManagement.com verifies both sides of the property management relationship: the operators who run the software, and the owners and investors those operators serve.
Three platforms scored at high confidence: RentEngine, ShowMojo, and Tenant Turner. RentEngine won six of seven dimensions.
Where RentEngine leads
RentEngine posted a VPI of 87.28. The report calls our Support and Credibility scores among the highest single-dimension scores in its entire dataset.
Support Quality: 92.45. The highest in the category, 11.7 points ahead of the next platform. In the client-outcomes analysis, 23 of 25 operators rated our support a perfect 5 out of 5. Not one operator rated it below 4.
Credibility: 91.51. The highest in the category, and a 13.7-point gap to the field.
Operator NPS: +76.0. The highest in the category, 19.4 points above the next platform.
We also won Best Support, Most Credible, and Happiest Operators in the report's dimensional awards.
The number that matters most: vacancy fill speed
On a $2,000-per-month rental, every vacant day costs the owner roughly $67 in lost rent plus carrying costs.
The report asked the owners and investors served by these property managers what they actually experience. On the core job, RentEngine leads:
80.0% of units filled within 30 days — the highest of the three platforms.
20.0% of vacancies stretch past 30 days — the lowest tail risk in the category, against 32.6% for the industry default.
Why credentialed property managers chose RentEngine
RentEngine has the most professionally credentialed user base in the category: 95.2% NARPM members and 84.2% conference attendance, both the highest of any leasing tool in the report. These are operators who evaluate technology carefully. The report's read is that the most credentialed property managers in the industry made a high-conviction bet on a platform founded in 2023, and the verified data says the bet is paying off.
What the 2026 category leader ranking means for property managers
The report's framing is that the decision is no longer about scheduling features. It is about whether your leasing operation is ready for the next decade of AI-native leasing.
If you want to see how that plays out in practice, our quarterly Leasing Data & Trends reports break down the operational benchmarks behind these outcomes, and our customer playbooks show how operators like McCaw Property Management put them to work.
